The Worm Book
The Worm Book is our masterpiece of the soil, our slimy magnum opus. It’s packed with poems and hybrid work by our two (human) editors, Abbie Hoffer and Isaac Fox. Each piece is a meditation on love, loss, self-image, and, most importantly, worms.
The formal poems in The Worm Book are all based on movies, and you get bonus points if you can place the references. (Disclaimer: Shelf Fungus points are worth absolutely nothing.)
Our thanks to MC Hyland, who taught us how to make a cartonera, and to the many, many writers who have inspired us with their less wormy cardboard-covered books. Our apologies to Kyle MacLachlan, who’s name we BADLY misspelled. (We’re sorry, Kyle! We didn’t catch it until it was in print!)

If you’d like a worm-packed soundtrack to accompany your reading, listen to this livestream sound art project, “ckflor,” made from vermicomposting (worms gnawing on compost). An ever-changing blend of sounds accompanies the chewing worms, including the rotation of a blank 12″ record and tones based on electrical signals from plants.
This project includes work by artists all over the world, but the wormy stuff is by Dr. Robert Machado, who’s an LVC professor and a contributor to Bestiary.
Zoom in on Lancaster, PA, to hear the worms.
